Yunyao Zhang was born in Shanghai in 1985 where he lived and worked until 2020. He graduated from the Department of Oil Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts at Shanghai Normal University in 2007. In the beginning of 2020 he visited Europe and couldn’t return in time to China due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since that moment he is based in Paris. In this period during which it was impossible to travel, his father passed away to a non- covid condition. This forced him to grieve from a distance and in a different cultural environment than his upbringing.

CMS Collection est née de la volonté de trois amis, collectionneurs passionnés, Joanna Chevalier, Hervé Mikaeloff et François Sarkozy, de bâtir une collection commune et de développer une plateforme de soutien à la création artistique contemporaine.
