L'œuvre

The Lava Field series by Shawn Murrey and Andrew Erdos is a collaboration based on observations of natural phenomena and materiality. Seeking to create pieces that visually appear as if they could be naturally occurring materials or industrial debris, the objects exist in a space that is both functional furniture and sculpture. The pieces in the series are a mixture of blown glass, ceramic and urethane rubber. The glass and ceramic elements are mixed with organic materials that burn away and create specific effects that cannot be replicated by the human hand or digital technology.
