Jean Rétif (1924-2020) peignit toute sa vie. Il n'en fit pas une profession, cependant il avait une formation de dessinateur industriel. Il peignit majoritairement des aquarelles, mais aussi des gouaches et des huiles sur toile. L'une d'entre elles fut primée au Salon des Indépendants en 1993.
