Pauvre papillon. Nous ne savons même plus ce qui l'a tué: la lumière et son pouvoir d'incandescence, ou bien la fumée et son pouvoir d'étouffement. Mais le résultat est là: au lieu d'un cadavre multicolore épinglé sur la planche de l'entomologiste, nous sommes en présence d'une empreinte décolorée, d'une pure trace de suie ayant pris la forme et la place de l'animal." - Georges Didi-Huberman
