Black Thread 1 (framed, signed and dated with a black marker on the vertical of transparent acetate at the right corner )

I began working with black thread in 1994, while living and working in New York. Living with very little money and wanting to continue working the suspended space in between, working with thread allowed me to create an unexpected balance. Sculpting the thread down to its last filament, recalls the line of the drawing more or less pressed on a sheet of paper. The act of sculpting the wire is similar to that of holding the empty space between the fingers. Connecting absence to presence, the invisible to the visible, pushing the limits as far as possible. Graduated with a Master I in visual arts at the University of Provence and a Master II (DEA) in visual arts in Paris I pantheon-Sorbonne.
