Marshall Walter Taylor dit “Major” Taylor fût à la fin du 19e siècle, le premier noir américain de l’histoire du sport, à avoir été sacré champion du monde. Surnommé “Le cyclone noir”, il fût de 1899 à 1904, le cycliste sur piste le plus rapide de la planète.
