Petr est Nénètses. Chef de tribu, il porte un malitsa, un pardessus en peau de renne avec une fourrure intérieure, une capuche et des mitaines intégrées. Une ceinture de cuir avec des amulettes (dents d'ours) sur un pantalon et bottes fourrées. Les éleveurs possèdent 2 ou 3 paires de longues cuisardes en peau de renne : les toboguis. Le chef de tribu fait office de médecin, de pasteur (certains nénètses ont été convertis au baptisme), médiateur. L'homme s'occupe des pâturages des rennes, de l'abattage, de l'élevage des animaux et de la recherche de bois.
